We are partnering with this respected commercial vehicle fleet organisation to recruit an Operations Director. This is a newly-created position, that sits in the senior leadership team with a high level of visibility and interaction at C-suite level.
The Commercial Vehicle Operations Director will hold ultimate responsibility for the overall performance of the company's internal vehicle maintenance operation as well as external parts and maintenance suppliers. Creating and delivering a strategy consistent with the company's vision of delivering outstanding and cost-effective service to their considerable UK client base, you will lead operations across these areas through a period of transformational change to ensure they continue to be the absolute best in class.
You will work closely with your experienced and capable team of direct reports to enhance and evolve the company's fleet maintenance division to reflect the company's continued growth of market share, offering support where needed and pushing team performance to the next level.
This position will suit an experienced Fleet Director, Fleet Services Director, Aftersales Director or senior operations manager from within the HGV fleet maintenance, management and repair industry. Leading the commercial vehicle maintenance provision with responsibility for a growing fleet size of more than 10,000 vehicles, directing and managing an experienced and knowledgeable team
Providing senior-level support to your Head of Department reports as required as well as engaging your national staff base of more than 150 heads through a period of transformational change - this will involve national travel on a regular basis
Creating and delivering the strategy for this newly-formed division, whilst also contributing to the group's wider strategy alongside your fellow directors
Working with internal colleagues and external supplier base to drive achievement of exceptionally high standards across all areas
To succeed in this position, you will:
Have held full P&L responsibility for a heavy commercial vehicle fleet maintenance operation, ideally within a fleet management business, a fleet operator or an HGV main dealer group.
Be comfortable and experienced in managing large fleets of vehicles (3000+) across multiple locations.
Be an engaging leader of people who is adept at gaining buy-in from experienced teams to new ways of working and improvements.
Have outstanding relationship-building skills and be used to devising innovative solutions to maximise profitability whilst maintaining high standards of service alongside safe and efficient working practices.
Have the ambition and capability to progress onward from this position in the future
You will ideally be based in the North of the UK or the Midlands, however a re-location is available for an exceptional candidate.
